Our Senior School leadership programme expands

Towards the end of 2020 the Senior School piloted a student leadership group called Student Voice. Student Voice was developed by Mr James Murray – Year 10 Pastoral Care Leader with the support of the Year 10 Pastoral Care Team and aims to build student voice and advocacy across the Senior School.

Two students from each pastoral care class were invited to represent their class on the Student Voice council. The mandate of the council was to identify a project around the Senior School and look for ways to make improvements. The Student Voice council identified the student toilets as an opportunity to influence their peers and went about creating inspirational and encouraging quotes for the cubical doors and walls. We are very excited to see these plans come to fruition over the summer holiday break ready for the commencement of the 2021 School Year.

Mr Murray and the team were impressed by the engagement and leadership shown by all students involved, and we look forward to raising up a new group of Year 10 Student Voice participants in 2021.

A few of the 2020 Student Voice members shared their experience below:

Being a part of the Student Voice team was a great experience. All the students selected were involved and passionate about making the School a better place; it was inspirational to see.
Being part of the Student Voice team was a really fun and new experience. Being part of the team allowed me to become more confident and comfortable within my own abilities. The process was fun and effective, I just wish we got to experience being in the team for a bit longer.
Being a part of the Student Voice team was a great opportunity, where I felt heard regarding our project and a part of the team. Being on Student Voice was both challenging and rewarding.
