A Passion for Running

At Tyndale, we are intentional about helping our students to pursue excellence in the subjects they are passionate about and aspire to reach their full potential. This is true for Jack, a 2020 Graduate at Tyndale Christian School – Salisbury East.

Jack began at Tyndale in Year 8. During his Middle and Senior school years, he had a keen interest in Physical Education (PE). His teachers supported and encouraged Jack in his sport and helped grow his passion for fitness along with his Dad and coach.

After graduating, his teachers told him about the Certificate III in Fitness Course beginning at Tyndale in 2021. “Doing the Cert III is a massive thing… it’s the first step to becoming a PE Teacher”, said Jack and this saw him come back to Tyndale to complete the course.

Earlier this year, Jack found out he qualified to participate in the National Athletics Competition in Sydney. He said, “I’ve done it [run] for so long and it was just an amazing thing I wanted to do… I thought to myself, this is the year I’m actually going to give it a shot.” Preparation involved training 3 nights a week leading up to the race. Jack achieved a fantastic result coming 21st in Australia for the 200m sprint.

Jack’s dream is to become a PE Teacher or a Personal Trainer to help people achieve their fitness goals and live a healthy lifestyle. He volunteers in Junior School PE lessons to gain experience “I love young kids, that’s why I want to be a PE Teacher”.
